Ex Casey Anthony Prosecutor Book:Imperfect Justice Prosecuting Casey Anthony
Ex Casey Anthony Prosecutor Book Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony – A former Casey Anthony prosecutor has written a book titled Imperfect Justice Prosecuting Casey Anthony in which he takes personal shots at her attorney Jose Baez.
Casey Anthony who was found not guilty of killing her 2 year old daughter Caylee, along with Jose Baez her attorney and the jury who acquitted her, are the targets of some very bitter sentiment in Jeff Ashton’s new book “Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony.”
Jeff Ashton contends in the book that the prosecution never should have requested the death penalty on the case, but there were strong feelings on the team that “she deserved” the sentence. He writes that Jose Baez and J Cheney Mason had tried to convince Casey Anthony to accept a plea agreement with prosecution, but she was unwilling to commit and as it turns out, her refusal ultimately resulted in her freedom.
Writing with a great deal of animosity, Ashton makes personal remarks on the character of Jose Baez saying “There is an unearned air of arrogance about the man that is incredibly frustrating to witness,” Ashton writes. “The word I used in describing Jose is smarmy: somebody who is slick, underhanded and doesn’t shoot straight.” He goes on to accuse Baez of being careless with facts, ignoring case deadlines and encouraging Casey Anthony to not cooperate with police and ivestigators who were searching for her daughter.
Jeff Ashton also has a scathing view of the jury members from the case with comments such as “they seemed to give a lot of thought and discussion to which movies they wanted to watch or which restaurants to go to while they were sequestered. Yet no juror asked a single question about the evidence during deliberation.”
“From the moment the jury had been seated … we had concerns over their apparent absence of strong opinions as well as over the amount of effort they seemed willing to expend on this,” Ashton writes. “In retrospect, I think those concerns were justified.”
Ashton seems to believe the best revenge on Casey Anthony is for the world to ignore her, give her as little press as possible. A seemingly odd statement given the press and publicity tour surrounding his book. On NBC’s Today show he said, “I hope that someday, and I know this probably won’t happen, the name Casey Anthony will invoke a ‘who’s that?’”
The book ‘Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony’ also contains new information on the defense psychologists who performed testing on Casey Anthony, but never were called by her team to testify in court. Ashton noted that Anthony told the psychologists that she was sexually abused by her father. He also confirmed that the first psychologist voiced extreme concern about his evaluation being used to support that defense logic, since Anthony had scored in a normal range on a test designed to discover mental disorders. The second psychologist gave Anthony a battery of tests to diagnose stress from trauma such as sexual molestation. These tests didn’t support the theory that she had been molested, according to Ashton.
Jose Baez has issued a statement saying that ex-prosecutor Jeff Ashton’s characterizations were false. “Having read several of the comments Mr. Ashton makes in his new book, I am both surprised and somewhat disappointed he has chosen to attack me on a personal level,” Baez said. “Without going into specific detail, I will say only that many of his accusations are absolutely false.”
